I love this. Thought I should share. From the New Yorker’s around town listings. It’s the only disclaimer that’s a part of the whole section.
Thank You, New Yorker
The New Digs
For the past week I have been helping my new boss move into his new studio. Some parts are fun. Some parts are not. Spaghetti is not my favourite meal when it comes to putting a studio together.

Baby, Baby, Baby, Oh!
Needs to be mixed again, but whatever. Hello, Ableton.
sprintf object
If I had known about the sprintf object before today, I probably would have saved 3-4 hours of going through the cycling74 documentation. I’m trying to piece together the id tags for the hypothetical track, device, and parameter that I want to control my other control, and to no avail I was left scrolling through the ancient files about as fast as someone who’s never used email.
Someone really needs to develop a proprietary search engine where you can describe what you are looking for when you don’t know the name and it comes up with what you want from your description. Is that really so far off?

Ableton Live 8 – Less Impulse Instruments than Live 7? Why?
So I’ve been trying to make some beats in Live 8 for an assignment of my new work. And what I’ve found is that the number of premade instruments in live 8 is rediculously depleted. Why would they do this? I think it’s a ploy to get people to buy the Ableton Suite, which is kind of a disgusting move on Ableton’s part. They think if we have fewer selections of instruments to use, then we’ll turn to their fancy add on instruments instead. This is stupid and kind of sleazy. If there is another reason for this, I would love to know.

Also, in Live 8, all of the instruments are now based on the proprietary synths (i.e. Analog, Tension, etc) instead of the Simpler sampler. That means that you can’t edit them at all and therefore once again need to turn to Suite to get into the major editing parts. It’s mostly a cash grab if you ask me.
